The 2017 Suffolk Schools Orienteering Championships was held at the Thorpe Woodlands Adventure Centre on Thursday 25th May 2017. Six schools had qualified for the final in regional heats and each school brought two pairs of orienteers to the final.
The final was a score event run in pairs. There were twenty controls and the pairs had to find as many controls as possible within the twenty minutes. If pairs went over the time limit, the number of controls at twenty minutes was awarded and the time recorded as twenty minutes. Trophies were presented for the first three individual pairs and a team award for the school with the highest combined number of controls of their two pairs.
Our congratulations to all involved, particularly to Chilton Community Primary School, Stowmarket for coming 1st and 2nd in the pairs event and therefore also winning the team competition. Some photos of the action can be seen here and the complete report and results list is available.
