Club News:

Jukola & Venla 2018

We have combined SuffOC/NOR teams travelling out to Finland for this weekend's Jukola & Venla relay races. The Venla, or women's relay, starts at 12:00 BST on Saturday & the Jukola (men's relay) at 21:00 BST. Details of the courses, terrain, maps & results tracking can be found on the Jukola website. Good Luck, everyone!

JROS selection..

Congratulations to Barney for being selected for the JROS training camp at Lagganlia near Aviemore this summer. Only 24 Juniors (M/W14s) from across the country obtain places at this camp, so there has been stiff competition at the qualifying events which included the JK & the British & regional championships.

Suffolk Schools Orienteering Championships 2018

This year's Suffolk Schools Orienteering Championships were held on Thursday 24th May. There had previously been regional heats in Eye, Beyton & Bury St Edmunds & ten teams from eight schools had qualified for the final, held for the second year running at the Thorpe Woodlands Adventure Centre in Thetford Forest.

Congratulations to all who took part, particularly to the teams from Debenham who achieved 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in the individual pairs event and who also won the team competition, and our thanks to Clive & Simon from SuffOC and the staff from the various schools involved. The complete report and results list can be downloaded from our website..

Several Recounts Needed...

Congratulations to our Juniors for winning the regional Yvette Baker Trophy Heat at Danbury Park on 13th May. It was a nail-biting time while the number crunching - & re-checking - was carried out, but SuffOC won by one point over Hertfordshire OC, with Essex Stragglers a mere one point behind in 3rd place. The team results have been summarised here and the full event results can be read on the Essex Stragglers' website.

Our team will go on to compete in the final in Arrow Park, near Redditch, on 1st July..

JK 2018
