AGMs are often things folk avoid: too boring or I don’t want to be forced into a role.

The SUFFOC AGM on Saturday 3rd October can counter both those aspects. We’ve got a fun 45minute score event in Christchurch Park to tackle before the AGM and we promise not to force you into anything.

Having said that, there are some known big changes coming up in the Committee. The Wilkinsons are moving and so Sally is stepping down as Fixtures Secretary – a vital role we need someone to fill getting permissions and allocating roles for our events. Sally is happy to talk over what is involved and can act as on-line mentor as you learn the job. Simon Hooton is stepping down as chair after 5 years and so someone to steer things is needed. Many tasks are delegated out to folk tackling different roles – Treasurer, Secretary, Mapping etc. – and so much of the chair’s function is to make meetings and the general progress go smoothly. Again, advice and help will be available to the new post holder.

The Club is keen to try and grow in numbers and so more publicity and developing links with others is a priority along with refreshing the website. Gareth Radcliffe and Sarah Mansel are planning a series of ‘Street Os’ during the Autumn: midweek score events starting and ending near a pub and so with the chance of more social engagement. The Club will also be in the Compass Sport Trophy Final on 18th October so there is much to engage with – and some fresh faces joining the Committee will make that so much easier. We hope to see you in Christchurch Park – details on the website and RaceSignUp. If you can’t be there but might be willing to pick up a role or just sit in on some Committee meetings (held on Zoom in an evening) to see what its about then do get in touch with any of the Committee members for an informal chat.
