What a day!
Despite the classic curveball of a mid-event British summer downpour, I am really proud of how the event went and grateful for the brilliant turnout from newcomers, long-standing club members and competitors from further afield.
It was particularly rewarding to see how receptive people were to the experimental format, introducing this untimed, historic-themed course into the mix. I hope it helped with navigating the later courses, and maybe even revealed something new about the Abbey’s history or its sheer scale.
Thanks for your patience as we worked through the logistical headscratchers caused by the unusual format in the registration/download tent. And thank you for all the warm comments throughout the day, I especially enjoyed hearing about the now mythic puddle that formed around one of the bridges, following the deluge!
