From the Planner:
Despite the rain I hope you enjoyed the courses. Fortunately the maps proved to be truly waterproof.
Producing challenging route choices is not easy at Ickworth, but to balance that we are fortunate to be able to run in such beautiful and varied landscapes – from the shaded paths in Albana Wood, the open sheep-grazed parkland to the very pleasant, and runnable, Twist and Dairy woodland.
The headland corridor next to the river, though rough underfoot, allowed the longer courses to do a wide circuit. Apologies to those who were caught out by the ‘rough open land’ near to the shooting platform control – this had been cultivated and drilled in the previous fortnight and was indistinguishable from the adjoining cultivated land.
With many thanks to Simon for his calm organising, to Bruce for his meticulous controlling and all helpers on the day.
