There was brilliant sunshine and a party atmosphere in Holywells Park today during the Grand Opening of the restored - and new - features in Holywells Park. Made possible by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, the improvements include: restoration of the orangery, provision of an open-air theatre space, refurbishments to the Stable Block Visitor Centre (which now houses a reception, a café and an education and function space) AND the creation of a new permanent orienteering course.
The permanent course consists of 16 controls around the park. Three courses of increasing difficulty have been designed for beginner & improver orienteers - or all the controls could be used as a timed score course for those wishing to challenge themselves further. Maps can be obtained from the Visitor Centre. There is an interesting mix of features in the park, so, if you didn't manage to visit today, why not try it out soon?
Our thanks to Clive for his contribution to this project.
