This course is located in the western part of Bury St Edmunds, in an area bounded by the Newmarket Road to the north, Parkway to the east and the A143 to the south. If driving to the town you can park at the Vinery Road car park (3 hours free parking limit), & the marked 'Start/Finish' is on a path on the north side of the Hospital Road/Petticoat Lane junction (approx. IP33 3NS). If you live locally you may start at any of the checkpoints, whichever is most convenient, & plan your route from there. This is a timed course - you'll receive points for each control you visit, & have them deducted if you're over the time allowed!

It's a quiet, mainly residential, area which includes the River Linnet and the cemetery. There are no controls in the latter, but the paths could provide route options: please remember that the gates are locked in the evenings. Although the course doesn't involve crossing any of the major roads mentioned above, some roads are still fairly busy, so caution is required & under 16s really must be accompanied by an adult.
