We are looking forward to the inaugural Springtime in the East weekend coming up, a collaboration with NOR to host a packed weekend of orienteering in the heart of East Anglia. With a rapid interest in online entries for the Ickworth Park event over the last few days, we have now reached the maximum limit on number of participants, permitted by the National Trust. Entry online and on the day are unfortunately no longer available.
The SUFFOC League is an internal club competition our captain John Clarke has been running the last few years. You may not have noticed but there has been a list of qualifying events for 2024 on the website over the last few months and John has been busy doing some number crunching and calculated the league standings for the first six events. As it stands Sally and Clive Wilkinson are leading the women’s and men’s senior competitions, with Ethan Radcliffe leading the junior competition. There is now a full interactive league table online, which we hope to update more regularly after each league event.
For those of you who have yet to sign up to the online club coaching sessions, here's your last chance this winter. Presented by Simon & Clive they have been full of hints and tips and are suitable for all levels. They really are worth attending, you can learn so much from both the coaches and more experienced orienteers on the session, so do sign up.The last session will cover contours and how to make them your friends. It is an informal sessions and will last about an hour. Monday 25th March at 7.30pmPlease email Clive to register your interest and he will email you the zoom link on the day.
Congratulations to Theo Stevenson-Barnes and Louise Walker on their Age Category wins in the East Anglian Orienteering league 2023, they were presented with their awards at the Compass Sport event at Kings Forest last month.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in yesterdays CompassSport Trophy Qualifiers in Kings Forest. It was a good day in the forest, the going was fast, furious and very wet! Sadly the club didn't qualify for the finals this year but SUFFOC came a very respectable 4th out of the clubs in our region with Ethan Radcliff winning his class - well done Ethan. Many thanks to the East Anglian Orienteering Association for putting on the event, to all the clubs involved and all the volunteers who made it happen.
